Q: I know I have several unresolved anger issues but I don't know how to get "unstuck." I pray to God but I get so caught up in anger & feelings of being taken advantage of that I definitely feel stuck. Any suggestions?

A: Unresolved anger in your soul is like you drinking poison hoping another person gets sick. If all of your actions and reactions are rooted in the behaviors of others, you are only holding yourself hostage from all that God has planned for you.

Respond to God, do not react to people. Not a single person on earth can control you or your feelings. Your feelings determine your actions and words. That is why Solomon says to "Guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life" (Proverbs 4:23). Your heart is shaped by what you think about all day long. You get to choose what you think about all day long.

You can either live in the negative or the positive. You can dwell on the negative feelings and thoughts of anger, resentment and the "get even" tactics. Or you can take the words of the Apostle Paul when he says "Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things" (Philippians 4:8).

You get to make the choice. Others can not control your thoughts. You do that. God created you for his purposes and being stuck is not part of his plan.

Guard your heart and watch your life change. Your heart is the key.
